What a great way to kick off the software section's first post with an all-new DAW.

The demo for Presonus' Studio 1 has just been released to the public and can be had here: http://www.presonus.com/demo-studioone/

Hopefully we can look back on this in a few years as S1 users, after it gets a more full-fledged feature set.

I love the looks, and even though I'm a bit sceptical, I hope it turns out to be a decent competitor for the major league DAW's out there. I gotta find some spare time to check out the demo. Have you tried it yet?

Naw, I haven't been able to access the site properly. I'm not entirely happy with needing to jump through so many hoops to get a demo.

I think the guys on GS are making enough of an uproar to cause them to re-deliver the demo and remove the lack of saving ability. So I'll just wait until that.

Or generally just wait until it gets a richer feature set, because so far it seems like Nuendo lite (and I'm sure you know how much I love Steinberg's DAWs).

Haha, yeah. I was a Cubase user for years, but since switching to ProTools (even though it's the "toy" M-Powered version), I instantly felt so comfortable with it, I hardly get excited about any other DAW's anymore.

I was kinda expecting it to be a cheaper alternative to the big DAW's, so seeing the $400 price tag was a bit a surprise to me. I'd imagine it's gonna pretty hard to compete in this field unless Studio One offers some drastical improvements over Cubase, Logic, PT and others.
